The life expectancy for a Toyota Tundra is about 300,000 to 700,000 miles with proper care and maintenance. Driving conditions and other factors will also come into play. Its important to pay attention to the specific issues the trucks are known to have, that way You can address any problems that might arise because of them. Some of the most well-known problems are the secondary air injection system failing caused by water entering the induction pumps and/or valves, leading to rust - which can happen after a few years. Toyota extended the warranty for the models affected by 6 years/60,0000 miles. Another issue is integrated brake controller failure. Many people had to install aftermarket brake controllers to provide enough braking power for hauled trailers. 2007-2010 Tundras also had issues with ineffective floor mat design which caused the accelerator to get stuck while down (Toyota recalled and had dealerships replace the pedal), and the accelerator getting stuck in the down position caused by the sliding surface of the friction level becoming smooth, which would cause condensation, leading to sticking.

My ‘03 Tundra just turned 20 and I’m at 374k, regullar maintenance, full synthetic oil changes. Never a major engine problem just gasket replacements. Still running like a track star.

My Tundra is 20 yrs. Old with 186,000 and still runs great! I plan on holding onto it and sprucing it up with a new paint job.
