This 2017 Chevy Impala makes use of regular unleaded gasoline, which iS87 octanes and has a gas tank size of 18.5 gallons. You can use premium gas in this car, which is 91 octanes, but seeing as this will cost You more and not give any benefit there is no real reason to. You can not under any circumstance use diesel, however. If You make the mistake of putting it in the tank do not start the car, have it towed to a mechanic right away. If You start the engine it will foul it, which can cause You thousands of dollars in repairs. If You leave the fuel sit, even a few hours, it can cause damage to the tank and gas line.

There are several different opinions on which gas is better for your engine, premium or regular. Manufacturers may recommend a specific type based on the performance of the engine in the vehicle. Some people will follow the recommendations, and some will not. The manufacturer recommends regular gas in the Impala, they have seen no difference in the performance of the engine with premium gas.
