It is recommended by the manufacturer to use premium gasoline with an octane of at least 91 in Your 2005 Acura MDX. It is possible to use 89 octane without damaging the vehicle but it is not recommended. Any lower octane fuel will harm performance of the vehicle and could lead to long term damage to the vehicle including the engine. This vehicle will have a maximum fuel tank capacity of 20.4 US gallons have an MPG rating of 17 city and 232 highway. With these numbers You really shouldn't have to stop for gas all that often.
