The 2016 GMC Terrain uses regular, unleaded gasoline in its engine. The fuel must have an octane rating of 87 or higher. Thankfully, this is often the cheapest, and most easily found type of fuel on the market in the US. For vehicles that require premium fuel, using lower octane rated gas will cause irreparable damage to their engine. This is avoided by driving a more economical and convenient vehicle, like the Terrain. If the filter inside the tank becomes d***y or clogged, it will need to be replaced. This can cost between $9 and $53 per new filter, and can be found at any automotive parts and accessories retail location.

It uses regular (87), but Top Tier gas is recommended. It has a detergent in it that deters buildup. Marathons, Shells, and others have this type of gas. Just Google for a list.
