The 2016 Toyota Avalon uses unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. For increased performance Toyota recommends that You use at least a rating of 89. In general You should always buy the best fuel that You can afFord. Gasoline with a higher octane rating will burn cleaner and more fully. There also are top tier fuels, which include detergents in them to help clean off carbon deposits in Your engine. Keeping Your engine free from carbon can help it last longer and make the valves have less problems over time. Never put diesel or E85 into Your Avalon, the motor cannot handle them and it could cause permanent damage to Your engine and fuel system.

To get the maxium efficentence out of the 2016 Toyota Avalon, it is recommended that you use at least 89 octane unleaded gasoline. Using 87 octane regular unleaded gasoline actually decreases the amount of horsepower out of the engine.
