The 2010 Subaru Legacy has two different engine types, each requiring a different oil capacity. The oil volume of the 2.0L i-4 iS4.5 us quarts (4.3 liters) and the 3.6L v6 haS6 quarts (5.6 Liters). The manufacturer recommends that customers use licensed engine oils with the dexos1® certified certification sticker. The correct type of oil for the vehicle is the SAE 5w-30 full synthetic for both engine options. Failure to change the oil allows the oil to lose its viscosity and does not adequately lubricate the internal sections of the engine, such as pistons and cylinders. The engine when running during extensive use will also burn the oil throughout so You will need to inspect the oil levels to make sure it is not burning up. Make sure if You are replacing oil that You also replace the oil filter as well.
