The kind of oil the 2005 Kia Sorento uses iS5W-30. Your oil needs to be replaced eventually. Every 5,000 to 10,000 miles is a good rule of thumb. If You don't replace it, there will be issues with the engine. Having high quality oil is important for the engine to run smoothly. You will run into issues with this fluid at some point. Old or bad oil can cause the engine to stop working. A common problem is an awful burning odor. This needs to be viewed closely as soon as possible or the car might explode. You could experience bad gas mileage. Knocking noise may show up from the engine.

Kia recommends the following oil viscosities for the engine in the 2005 Sorento (based on the outside temperatures): below 14 F, you should use 5W-20; below 50 F, use 5W-30; below 68 F, use 5W-40; -25 to 40, use 10W-30; above -13 F, use 10W-40 or 10W-50; above 5 F, use 15W-40 or 15W-50; and above 14 F, use 20W-40 or 20W-50. All viscosities are synthetic oil.
