The 2008 Cadillac Escalade uses SAE 5W-30 motor oil. Cadillac recommends that You use full synthetic oil when You are replacing it so that it can provide the best wear protection possible for Your engine. In general oil comes in two major varieties, synthetic and conventional. Synthetic oil is engineered to provide You the best wear protection for Your engine compared to conventional which is petroleum based. Synthetic also lasts longer meaning You should only need an oil change every 7,500 miles compared to every 3,500 to 5,000 miles with conventional oil. Always be sure to check Your oil at least once a month to make sure it is full and free from signs of debris or burning.
