The 2009 Toyota Highlander V6 engine holdS6.4 US quarts of 5W-30, and the 4Cylinder engines hold 4.7 quarts of the same lubricant. However, always check the owner's manual to verify based on the trim of the vehicle. Scheduled oil and filter changes will keep Your SUV running smoothly, and the manufacturer recommends service every 7,500 - 10,000 miles using fully synthetic products and every 3,000 - 5,000 miles using conventional replacements. Most modern vehicles experience better gas mileage with fully synthetic oil. Using an oil like 5W-30 ensures the engine stays adequately lubricated in colder temperatures as well. 5W-30 promotes less friction between engine parts due to its leaner viscosity. Branded lubricants are also known to provide up to 2x more protection against corrosion than aftermarket replacements. Cost for a lube and filter job for the Highlander averages $130-$140 in parts and labor.
