The 2015 Chevy Malibu takeS4.7 liters (5.0 quarts) of SAE 5W-20 engine oil. This synthetic fluid helps enhance performance and fuel economy while protecting the engine from corrosion, friction, and overheating. Your Malibu is equipped with an oil life light that illuminates in the instrument cluster when it's time to make a service appointment. This light will need to be reset after the fluid is replaced. Chevrolet recommends replacing the oil in this sedan every 7,500 miles, but You may need to do it more often if Your daily commute consists of long distances at low speeds or if You live in a dusty area. The average cost to have this fluid changed in the 2015 Malibu is $110 to $150. Labor generally makes up around $50 of that expense, so if You want to save a bit of money, You can handle the maintenance work Yourself.

There are 2 engine oil recommendations for the 2015 Chevrolet Malibu. Models with L engines take a 0W-20 or 5W-20 viscosity and oil that meets dexos1 standards. Models that have X engines take a 5W-30 viscosity and oil that meets dexos1 standards. A 0W-30 can be used on the X engine models as well.
