The type of power steering fluid that should be used in the 2008 Chevrolet Impala is GM Power Steering Fluid (GM Part No. U.S. 89021184, in CanadA89021186) according to the owner's manual. The capacity for the fluid in the vehicle is 0.93 quarts or 0.88 liters. The reservoir is located at the rear of the engine compartment on the passenger side of the vehicle. To check the power steering fluid level You should first turn the vehicle off and let it cool down. Wipe off the cap and the top of the reservoir, unscrew the cap, take out the dipstick and wipe it off with a clean rag. Put the cap back in and tighten it fully, remove the cap again and look at the fluid level on the dipstick.
