If Your 2008 Cadillac CTS is making a knocking sound from the engine then there are a couple of causes. If You have a bad O2 sensor then Your air to fuel mixture may be off. That means You are running rich or lean, and in either case can cause knocking, along with weaker acceleration and increased fuel consumption. This is an easy fix, at about 50 dollars, so best to get on it right away. The other common issue that causes this is a bad timing chain. This is a bigger issue as a broken timing chain can cause major damage to the engine. It will cost You about 300 to have a new one put on, but You need to do it right away.

The cause of a knocking noise in a 2008 cadillac cts is usually associated with a failed timing chain or the knocking sound also happens when the air-fuel ratio is wrong, which allows the fuel to fire in irregular pockets rather than large bursts. Untreated, it can inflict damage to the lining of the piston and cylinder.
