If Your VW Tiguan won't start with a clicking noise then that can be caused by a number of reasons. Some of those reasons are a dead battery, bad alternator, or failing starter. In my personal experience, a dead battery is almost always the cause for a car not being able to start. It can happen either because You either left a light on or forgot to turn off Your radio. In other cases, a bad alternator can also be the cause. When the alternator fails, it also fails to provide a charge to the battery which in result causes the battery to die. When You have a faulty starter in Your hands, the car will not turn at all but You'll have Your lights come on which is a difference.

If your VW Tiguan won't start and you hear a clicking noise, it would be due to a failing ignition switch or dead battery.
