The oil the BMW 320i takes iS5w-40. Your oil needs to be replaced eventually. Every 5,000 to 10,000 miles is a good rule of thumb. If You don't replace it, there will be issues with the engine. Having high quality oil is important for the engine to run smoothly. You will run into issues with this fluid at some point. Old or bad oil can cause the engine to stop working. A common problem is an awful burning odor. This needs to be viewed closely as soon as possible or the car might explode. You could experience bad gas mileage. Knocking noise may show up from the engine.

The bmw 320i is recommended to use 5w-40 fully synthetic motor oil stated by the owners manual.

Don’t forget that you need to consider your climate. Heavier oil in hot areas and lighter oil in colder areas. 5w30 is the middle ground good for most places.
