The Honda Civic uses M8 X1.25 inch screws for the license plate. This means that the thread is an M8 pitch, and the screw is 1.25 inches long. If You install a license plate bracket You may need to get longer screws to fit the additional thickness of the bracket. When You install Your license plate screws I recommend using a thread glue or locker. This can help protect Your screws from coming undone while You are driving. It is also a good way to help stop people from stealing Your license plate if You have loose screws. You can also use a screw with a Torx head on Your license plate to make it harder to remove.

Alex’s answer gives the screw size but it’s explained incorrectly. In “M8x1.25” the M8 reflects an 8mm diameter (not pitch) and 1.25 reflects the thread pitch (space between each thread peak), not the length of the screw. If you have a M8x1.25x30 that’s a 30mm long screw, 8mm diameter, 1.25mm pitch.
