The 2009 Toyota Corolla's coolant levels should be checked periodically. The Corolla uses Zerex red pre-diluted antifreeze featuring OAT technology for Asian vehicles. You can also use OEM replacement Toyota Super Long Life coolant. Always check a vehicle has been turned off for some time before opening the radiator or coolant cap. Fluids can be extremely hot and will spurt and splatter when the engine is at operating temperature. The antifreeze reservoir can be found in the engine bay, commonly on the passenger side. Use a funnel to top up the antifreeze, especially during warmer weather when an engine needs to work harder. Causes of over-heating include low coolant levels, faulty thermostats or water pump failure.
