The owners manual mentions that You should always try to use a DEX-COOL 50/50 blend in Your 2009 Chevy Impala. The 50/50 mix means that Your coolant is haLFAntifreeze and half water. This combination is beneficial because whether You're in the extreme heat or extreme cold Your coolant will be able to hold up well and prevent Your car from overheating. Coolant isn't really something You have to worry about much and only needs to be changed every 60,000 miles or so. If You notice that You're low on fluids it's likely that You have a leak somewhere. When adding more to Your vehicle just follow the min and max levels on Your reservoir and You'll be fine. -
