The 2003 Chevy Silverado takeS5w30 synthetic oil. If You need to change the gear oil then there are two things to keep in mind. First, if You are just adding more oil then You can find the input port on the axle shaft and simply fill it till You reach the full line. This is easy to do and should not take long. If You need to drain all the oil first then You will need to remove the oil pan plate on the axle shaft. This will allow the oil to drain out but be warned it is going to go everywhere when You take the plate off so be ready to catch it. Once drained juSTSeal it up and fill it as above and You will be good to go.
