The 2005 Ford F-250 sues Mercon V power steering fluid. Always be sure to use the same type of power steering fluid and never mix it. Mixing fluids can cause corrosion to form in Your power steering system which can cause permanent damage. If You are not sure what power steering fluid You have I recommend contacting Your mechanic to find out. If You still do not know then You will need to flush Your power steering system out before You refill it with fresh Ford approved Mercon V. The fluid works well in the high pressure hydraulic system that gives You steering assistance. If You notice that Your steering is heavier the first thing to check for is a fluid leak.
