The 2011 Ford Flex operates with a power steering pump that circulates lubricants in and around steering gears to help the wheels smoothly. Maintaining PS fluid levels prevent damage to the pump and the steering hydraulics. The Flex' pump is lubricated by multi-vehicle fluid made for American vehicles. The PS reservoir should be found on the passenger side of the engine bay next to the coolant reservoir. The tall, cylindrical plastic container is marked by symbols identifying it with a black cap. Check fluid levels when the vehicle is cold. When replacing the reservoir's cap, make sure no debris falls into the neck and contaminates the fill. If the Flex' PS assembly needs attention You will notice whining or high pitched noises when turning the wheel.
