The older model Chevy Malibu uses GM Power Steering Fluid if it has a hydraulic power steering pump. If equipped, the reservoir is located near the firewall on the passenger side of the engine compartment. The fluid doesnt need to be checked that often, unless you have a leak or are experiencing steering issues. When you do check the fluid, wipe the top of the cap off and the surrounding area firSTSo not dirt gets into the tank. Unscrew the cap and wipe the dipstick off. Reinsert it then Make sure the level is between the MIN and MAX lines. All of new Malibus have electric power steering and does not take any fluid, nor does it require any regular maintenance.
