The 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 coolant leak causes are cracked head gasket and hole in hose. The coolant needs to be replaced every 60,000 miles. Your air filter needs to be replaced every 15,000 to 30,000 miles. The spark plugs need to be changed every 100,000 miles unless it's a copper one. A cooper spark plug needs to be changed every 30,000 miles. You will come into many problems with an engine. A gasket may be loose and that needs to be tightened up. A spark plug may pop off, causing engine issues. You can have oil leaks and those need to be repaired as soon as possible. There could be excessive oil use, requiring the oil to be replaced sooner than expected. A really serious problem is the engine overheating. This may lead to fires and the car exploding.

There are a couple reasons that can cause the 5.7 liter to leak I replaced water pump on this engine one is the Water pump it self and then after replacement the leak ,moves slightly to a different place in same general area of engine just appears to be timing chain cover but is not the cover, the leak is outside the sealing surface of the interior gasket Take a small amount of air less than 20 psi from an air compressor,to the bolt hole that has the longest bolt that runs perpendicular to coolant sensor.apply air and look at the crack between the water pump and timing cover notice that there is air coming between covers, anyway to repair mix some JB weld clean the hole best as possible and apply the sealant to bolt threads of the bolt good luck you may not have to replace the cover if you take notice to where the gasket and bolt are in relation to the leak you can see why it leaks at this area .

There are several issues that could cause coolant in a 2005 dodge ram 1500 to leak, a hole in the radiator, a damaged or cracked coolant hose or a faulty water pump.
