The 2006 Ford Mustang might display a check engine light for a number of reasons. One common one is when there is a low level of fluid in the car. This could be an oil, like the engine oil as well. This light is more of a service light in some cases, reminding You to do a routine service of the car. If You top up Your oils after Your light comes on, this should take care of it in many cases. If it doesn't, You can proceed to troubleshoot it by visiting an auto store like Autozone. Many of their locations offer free OBD-II scans. This will offer You some fault codes which point You in the direction of the issue. The check engine light can also be shut off using this scanner. Try shutting it off and see of it comes back on after a while.

The check engine light on the 2006 ford mustang is a catch all that is designed to alert you to an issue with the vehicle. It gets turned on when the computer in the vehicle detects an error on the vehicle and stores a trouble code. You can read that code with an obd scanner and this will tell you what the issues is. Common issues can include a loose gas cap, the engine misfiring, d***y spark plugs, vacuum leaks, low oil pressure, and nearly anything else. The light can also come on to remind you to get the vehicle serviced if you are nearing a mile stone. The check engine light is not often a major issue, but it should not be ignored either.
