You're enjoying an evening drive in Your 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, when You realize Your check engine light has suddenly illuminated on Your dashboard. This can be caused by a myriad of issues. First, You may have a loose or improperly closed gas cap. If that doesn't fix the problem, You may be experiencing a crack in the vacuum hose, or the vacuum seal. There may also be mIS Firing or stalling from the engine, or low oil pressure, which can be remedied by replacing the oil for a cost between $4 and $43. If the spark plugs have gone bad, they will need to be replaced. This can cost between $8 and $23 for parts alone.

If the check engine light on the 2007 Chevy cobalt is on then you may have a couple off different issues. Realistically it can come on anytime the ecu detects and error and stores a trouble code. To check the code you will need to hook the vehicle up to a obd scanner and read the code. The light can also come on when you are approaching a service milestone. Issue that cause it can include a loose gas cap, leaks in the vacuum seals, engine misfires, low oil pressure, bad spark plugs, or really anything else. The check engine light is a catch all to alert you that something is wrong, but that something can cover nearly anything on the vehicle. Often it is minor, but it should not be ignored.
