If Your "check engine light" displays in Your 2008 Toyota Prius instrument cluster , it could mean a loose gas cap or a more severe issue such as a failed O2 sensor, a higher pollution leak or a fault with Your vehicle's catalytic converter. The first thing You need to do is check and see that the gas cap is safe and not damaged because it is the easiest to patch. Over time, the catalytic converter would be clogged with contaminants and particles that will cause the engine light to be turned on. The moSTSuccessful way to find out what the problem is would be to use an OBD testing test to classify the problem. If You don't have a scanner, You should have the inspection done by a dealership or a vehicle repair shop.
