What would cause my 2017 Chevy Traverse check engine light to come on?

The check engine light illuminates in the 2017 Chevy Traverse to let You know a problem has been detected with the emissions system, engine, or transmission. In many cases, it's something as simple as a loose gas cap, but it can also be something much more severe. It's also important to note that a blinking light is worse than a solid light. A blinking one means You should stop the vehicle immediately.
