The most likely cause of water pump noise in a 2014 Chevy Cruze is due to failing bearings. The water pump is lubricated internally through the coolant. Using an improper coolant, one that is not recommended by the manufacturer or that is diluted beyond 40% with water could fail to properly lubricate the water pump and cause the bearings to wear prematurely. When this happens as the pump is turning the bearings will rub on the race inside of the bearing housing and cause them to squeal. Once the pump begins to squeal there's no repairing it and it would need to be replaced. Another cause of noise coming from the water pump is because of the pulley bearings failing, these can be replaced but it might be cheaper just to replace the water pump.

If the 2014 Chevy Cruze is having an issue with the water pump then it will allow coolant to leak and build up in the front of the vehicle, leading to rust getting into the system. The engine may also overheat if to much coolant is lost. A leak will likely be caused by the shaft seal failing, or the impeller wearing down and coming loose. Leaking coolant will make a gurgling or sloshing sound.
