The Volkswagen code 00300 indicates or communication issue with the transmission fluid temperature sensor. This sensor measures the temperature of the transmission fluid and if the fluid is too low it will inhibit the overdrive and converter clutch from operating. This code means that the PCM won't be able to control the shifting of the transmission and will cause shifting issues. Usually this is caused by a damaged wire or corroded pin in the connector. The sensor is usually located on the side of the transmission near the front. You have to unplug the electrical connector going to it and there is one bolt holding it in that needs to be removed.
