The Dodge error code 07E8 is generated when the vehicle is scanned with a Konwel scanner. This code usually indicates a problem with the vehicle's crankshaft sensor. The CKP is often found bolted at the right-rear side of the cylinder block. The sensor monitors the rotational speed of the crankshaft which in turn manages the ignition timing and fuel injection of the engine. The CKP can deteriorate over time as it is exposed to the extreme heat and vibrations associated with engine operation. A faulty crankshaft position sensor will first manifest as an illuminated "check engine' light. Drivers may experience difficulty starting the vehicle, stalling, backfires, rough idle and uneven acceleration. The cost to replace the Dodge's CKP averages $115-$150 in parts and labor.
