A 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 truck with A5.9L V8 engine is going to have a maximum towing capacity of 7,600 pounds. This was a good strong amount at the time but more recent models will be able to haul equal weight or even more while using a smaller engine. You may want to upgrade if Your old truck just isn't doing the trick anymore. This engine is going to be able to pump out 245 horsepower. It will have a torque output of just 335 pounds-feet which again is not too impressive for an engine of this size.
