The 2001 Chevy Silverado rear differential fluid capacity is 2 quarts. To add more fluid to the car You will need to locate the rear axle shaft and find the fluid container. If You just need to put more in then You can simply open the intake port and pour it in, really simple. If You need to drain it however then You will need to remove the cover plate. When You do this You will need to have a bucket ready, as the oil will come pouring out. Once it is empty You can seal the plate back on and then fill it from the top as before. Removing the plate only requires that You pull off a pair of bolts.
