Your 2001 Volkswagen Jetta TDI comes from the factory using a synthetic SAE 5W-40 motor oil. Now, there's always been controversy about using a synthetic over a conventional CF4 oil in these cars, but I personally recommended going with the Mobil One Truck and SUV on here; this gets You over 10k miles without hassling with it. When You change the oil, You're going to need 4.75 quarts to properly refill it. That is with the filter, though, so usually A5 quart jug will get You properly squared away here.
