A 2004 BMW X3 equipped with the optional 3.0L V6 engine is going to need to run on synthetic 5W-30 motor oil. You will also have the option of usinG5W-40 but that will also need to be a synthetic type. The total capacity when the filter is included is going to be 6.6 US quarts. The oil drain plug is going to require a 17mm socket in order to remove it. If using a torque wrench You'll want to set it to 25 ft-lbs. If You take Your vehicle in to a shop for the oil change You'll spend between $110 and $140.
