The 2004 Buick Rainer uses SAE 75W-90 gear oil in the front differential. The differential is the laSTSet of gears that the power from Your engine goes through before it reaches the wheels. Differentials use much thicker oil than what You would typically find in an engine or transmission. This is because they are very small and can get very hot when the gears are rotating inside them. A thinner oil would break down faster with the heat than the thicker option. You should change Your gear oil at least every 50,000 miles to make sure to help protect Your differential from damage.

How do you check the front differential fluid? How do you add to it? Sorry, I know I probably sound dumb for even asking but I'm new at this. My father or my ex always took care of the repair stuff on the vehicles and I really wish I would've learned how to do all of this stuff, but I didn't. I just purchased this 2004 Buick Rainier a few months ago and it just started making a noise that sounds like a playing card stuck in bicycle spokes when I am driving forward. It is only when accelerating that it makes the noise.
