The recommended type of oil that should be used in the 2004Chevrolet Malibu Classic iS5W-30 Synthetic in all temperatures or 10W-30 in above 0 F temperatures. The capacity for the vehicle iS5 quarts with a filter and the torque for the drain plug is 18 ft/lbs. Synthetic is man made using chemical compounds and contains fewer contaminants than conventional. Oil is extremely important because it will help to keep the engine clean and lubricate parts of the engine to help with wear and friction. It doesn't last forever though, so it needs to be changed every once in a while. For the car You should change the oil and the oil filter every 7,500 to 10,000 miles or so.
