The 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.7L engine uses a group 65 battery. This is a larger size battery than You would normally find in a sedan because it needs the power to turn over the larger engine using a MINImum of 650 cold cranking amps. Batteries these days come in two major varieties, lead acid and AGM. Lead acid are the traditional batteries that You will need to add distilled water to from time to time. AGM batteries are sealed and use a gel in them so You will never need to do anything to them. In general an AGM battery will give You more amperage and last longer than a lead acid option.
