The oil pressure sensor on the 2004 Ford Taurus is located near the back and top of the engine compartment and is bolted in to the engine block. Multiple systems in Your car are designed to maintain the correct engine oil level and pressure. In order for the engine computer to regulate the flow of oil, the oil pressure sensor needs to work correctly. The oil pressure sensor is hooked directly to the oil pressure gauge on Your instrument cluster. The oil pressure sensor helps to send the information regarding the oil pressure to the gauge that is located on the instrument cluster. In order to keep a car running smoothly, You will have to be alerted when there is a problem with the oil pressure.
