The 2004 Kia Sorento ECM is located on the driver's side of the firewall in the engine compartment near the battery. Always make sure You disconnect the battery before trying to remove or replace the ECM. To remove the ECM You will also have to remove the battery and the air cleaner assembly to gain access. Once You remove these two pieces there are mounting bolts that You can loosen to get the ECM out of the housing unit. The EMC is a fairly expensive part and prices will range from $800 - $1100 depending on if its an aftermarket or OEM product. This sometimes will need new software progRammed into the vehicle so it is safer to take it to the dealership or experience Kia mechanic to have the job completed.

2004 kia sorrento 6cyl 4wd lx.....ecu is under front passenger footwear under carpet under metal plate...3 10mm nuts then 2 10mm bolts on right...2 10mm nuts on left.
