The 2004 Mazda Tribute uses Mazda premium yellow coolant for the vehicle. This is what will come in the car from the factory and what the dealership will put into it when You have it serviced by them. If You have had Your coolant changed by a third party shop in the past and You are unsure about Your coolant type then I recommend adding distilled water if it is low. You do not want to risk mixing different types of coolant in Your vehicle since it can lead to corrosion of the cooling system and that can cause a lot of damage later on down the road. It is always safest to use distilled water since it is free from any other chemicals.
