The 2004 Mercedes-Benz C320 comes with one of two different engine configurations -- both are 3.2L 6 cylinder engines, but one is Flex Fuel compatible and one is not. However, they both require the same amount of oil -- 7.9 quarts. As for type, it's recommended that You use SAE 0W-30 full synthetic, but the C320 will take almost anything, based on climate. Mercedes recommends either 0W-30 or 0W-40 for all temperatures. Above -13F, You're free to use 5W-30, 5W-40, or 5W-50. Above -4F, You can use 10W-30, 10W-40, 10W-50, or 10W-60. If You'll be operating solely above 5F, You can use 15W-40 or 15W-50. At temps above 23F, feel free to use 20W-40 or 20W-50. Still, thinner oils are better -- that's why SAE 0W-30 is what's highly recommended. Thicker oils can introduce friction to the system, which can lead to premature wear and tear and eventually early failure. Therefore, typically stick with the lowest oil weight recommended by the manufacturer, especially in a colder climate.
