The manufacturer of the 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser specifies the type of oil as SAE 5w-30, but You can also use SAE 0w-30. One thing to note, however, is that You can't mix it and the engine should be drained before using another form of oil. The oil volume of the car engine iS4.5 quarts or 4.3 liters for the 2.4 liter DOHC I-4. This is suggested by the factory specifications for the quantity recommended to be used when replacing the oil and oil filter for its service interval. When selecting the oil for the car, make sure that it is the right form, but also check for the API certification seal because this lets You know that the oil is licensed for use on all vehicles produced by Chrysler. WIth Conventional You will have to change the oil every 3500 miles and for full synthetic, You will have to do a replacement oil and filter every 5500 to 7000 miles.
