The transmission control module on a 2005 Dodge Dakota can be found under a cover on the rear of the transmission housing. There will be wires that are running into the cover and that will let You know where it is. The transmission control module in Your truck is the brain for the entire transmission. It controls when it needs to shift gears, and lets it know what gear that it should be in to match the speed from the engine. If Your transmission control module is failing usually You will notice that it does not shift smoothly between gears, and You may also notice that it feels like it is hunting for a gear. This is usually a sign that there is a software problem within the computer.

The transmission control module in your 2005 dodge dakota should be at the rear of the power distribution center with your fuses and relays.
