The coolant temperature sensor of Your 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 is located inside of the intake manifold which itself is situated at the front side of the engine. You can access the engine by opening the hood of Your car where it is located. The coolant temperature sensor of Your car is mainly used to measure the temperature of the antifreeze or coolant mix in the system. It also indicates how much heat Your engine gives off at any point in time. You need to keep these temperatures in check to get the best performance out of Your engine and Your car itself. A poor performing sensor of this kind will cause Your car to overheat without getting warnings about the rising temperature.

The engine coolant temperature (ect) sensor on a 2005 dodge ram 1500 is located directly below the a / c compressor in the engine block. In order to gain access to the ect sensor, the a / c compressor must be unbolted.
