The 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 uses a power steering pump to circulate lubricants in and around steering gears and pistons to help You move the wheels with ease. It's important to never let these fluid levels drop to prevent damage to the pump and Your steering hydraulics. The Ram can use any synthetic multi-vehicle PS fluid in its pump designed for American vehicles, or alternatively ATF +4 transmission fluid. Either lubricant will work and features the required viscosity. You should be able to find the PS reservoir on the passenger side of the engine bay near smaller pulleys and belts. The container is usually marked by symbols or lettering to identify it. If the Ram's assembly needs attention You will notice whining or high pitched noises when turning the wheel.
