You'll find the speed sensor on Your 2005 Ford Explorer mounted to the driver's side of the transmission, bolted in place with two 10mm bolts. If Your transmission is shifting poorly and the speedometer seems to be failing to correctly register Your speed, or isn't registering any speed at all, this is most likely the culprit. Pro-tip, by the way, but trying to convince a state patrol officer that You weren't speeding because Your speedometer shows 0 mph doesn't work, or so I've heard. Anyway, swapping out the sensor is as easy as unbolting as mentioned above and then disconnecting the wiring harness from the old one, connecting it to the new one, and bolting that one in place, and You should be able to see how fast You're going (and avoid those speeding tickets!).
