The 2005 Mazda Tribute uses a synthetic 5W-20 motor oil; while You can get away with a conventional, You really oughtn't: The additional additives add to Your engine's longevity and performance. Additionally, Mazda marks synthetic as being required, so if You do use a conventional in a pinch, You should go with a synthetic at the next change (typically in 3,000 miles). This won't hurt anything: You'll just end up with a "blend". Your Tribute has an oil capacity of 6 quarts, which includes the filter -- which just gets the generic but reliable WIX51372. Your vehicle also requires differential lubrication: That's going to be an SAE 80W-90 synthetic gear lub, or, if You'd like, A75W-90 or 75W-110. For the transfer case, You'll use A75W-140. For Your clutch and brakes, You'll use DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid. (Yes, in Your clutch, as well.)
