The crank shaft position sensor on the 2005 VW Touareg can be found on the underside of the engine, near the timing cover. The sensor is in charge of making sure that the crankshaft itself is working correctly. Sensor failures are not totally uncommon, but they are cheap to replace and easy to get to. If You have a bad sensor then You will notice rough idle, stalling, and shaking when You are driving. The most common thing will be the car stalling out when You are idle. If this happens You will need to replace the sensor, or You can have it done cheaply at a mechanics'. If You ignore it then You will find the engine gets damages over time.
