The 2006 Cadillac DTS' throttle position sensor is mounted to the side of the throttle body which can be located by following the DTS' air intake hose to the engine. As part of the vehicle's fuel delivery system the TPS is responsible for monitoring how far the throttle valve is open which determines the amount of air injected into the engine. Together they work with other paRameters like temperature, MAF readings, and engine RPM's to create a desired air/fuELRatio for optimal combustion. If the sensor goes bad the valve might remain shut or open causing a no start or reduced performance. Signs it needs replacing include rough idling, a no-start, stalling and reduced acceleration power. Cost of replacement averages $160-$220 in parts and labor.
