The radiator cap in a 2006 Chevy Equinox is found on the expansion tank. The actual radiator itself is sealed and does not have a traditional cap on the top of it like a lot of cars did in the past. The cap on the expansion tank is where You will check the coolant levels as well as add coolant when the vehicle is low. This is a safer way to access Your coolant in general because it is less likely to be under high pressure when it is in the expansion tank. Removing the cap on a radiator itself was sometimes dangerous since coolant is usually boiling and under a lot of pressure when it is in the radiator itself.
