The 2006 Chevy Impala has an evap canister with a vent that can be found attached to the side of the charcoal canister, just past the catalytic converter and above the muffler of Your car. If the canister has gone bad or developed an exhaust leak due to wear or cracking, it will need to be replaced. You will have to pay around $148 to $240 for parts alone. If You choose to have it replaced by a mechanic or auto pro, You are going to be looking at a cost of $190 to $380 for labor.
